Podcast meets Broadcast with DHD’s new RM1 all-in-one audio interface.

DHD announces an addition to its range of broadcast-quality audio equipment with the introduction of RM1, a complete audio production system in a compact, lightweight desktop unit capable of operating from a wall outlet or USB linked power source.

“We've got the perfect setup to help you sound your best whether you're exploring the potential of podcast production or are a seasoned on-air commentator,” says Marc Herrmann, DHD audio Managing Director. “Designed to bridge the gap between podcast and broadcast, RM1 is a mobile audio mixer and multichannel interface with integrated audio processing capability.”

“Robustly built and easily configurable for use in practically any style of content creation, RM1 offers high signal quality and versatility for use wherever your creativity takes you, including podcasting, web radio, live streaming and remote or onsite broadcast contribution. The user interface allows presets to be tailored for every voice and style, ensuring the perfect setting to enhance your presentation and make your voice stand out. Features include an audio equaliser, compressor, limiter, multitrack recorder and on-air tally.”

“A particularly useful feature is AutoMix which automatically balances all incoming audio channels, managing background music and unwanted distractions to ensure a clean and balanced mix. RM1 also brings other automation features such as automatic gain levelling and control. RM1 delivers a signal ready for distribution, allowing the user to focus on content creation without being distracted by technology.”

The full potential of RM1 can be accessed via the integrated interface which can be connected from almost any device supporting a web browser. RM1 brings production-ready presets for popular microphones to get started quickly. Input level gain as well as headphone or speaker volume can be adjusted from the front panel along with other input related settings such as gain or phantom power. Audio level gain can be set manually or based on a speech sample, or automatically optimised throughout a programme.

“Harnessing DHD’s nearly 30 years of experience in developing and manufacturing digital broadcast technology for radio and television, RM1 is operating system independent and combines touchscreen support with the virtual connectivity of its supporting DHD app,” adds Christoph Gottert, International Sales. “All relevant functions can be accessed and adjusted via the intuitive touchscreen control menu. Incoming calls or voice message playback can be managed quickly via the integrated Bluetooth connectivity, USB or the auxiliary input. Connect microphones and headphones, and you are ready to roll.”

RM1 all-in-one audio interface will make its world’s first appearance on DHD stand 8.B52 at IBC 2024, Amsterdam, from Friday September 13th through Monday September 16th.
